Wissant a seaside village
Wissant is a small seaside village located along the Côte d'Opale, Northern France's coastline. It is known for its stunning beaches and natural beauty that is sure to take your breath away.

The fishermen bring the boats right into the centre of the village. You can buy the fish straight off the boats It dose not get much fresher than that.
The village has the usual mixture of shops, cafes and restaurants. There is a market on Wednesday and in July and August there is also one on a Friday.
The tourist office was helpful and spoke English.

An old mill in the village centre as been turned into a heritage centre.
Inside the mill is pinewood and cast iron machinery. You can smell the wax
and flour from its working life.
After the museum we went down to the beach you can walk or take the car. There is parking almost on the beach we had a picnic in the sand dunes.

We visit the village 2 or 3 times a year usually in mid week when you have the place to yourself.In the Summer months it gets busy at the weekends and the school holidays.There are several holiday houses and apartments to rent in the village.
