Villa Platane Gite on Dordogne / Lot et Garonne Borders
by Paul Mitchell
(Agnac)
Situated in a small hamlet 3kms from Eymet, is this highly rated farmhouse.
The word spacious does not do it justice. All the rooms are large, as are the grounds and pool. The gite has an official Meublés de Tourisme classification of 4 stars, but all our guests have rated it with 5 stars.
The reason is clear: a traditional ambience, lots of space, fully equipped, parkland grounds (a guest's description), and all conveniences, including a washing machine and tumble dryer to reduce the need to bring several weeks' clothing.
Whilst its location is quiet, it is close to the Anglophile Bastide town of Eymet with all the facilities, restaurants and bars you could want. Further afield are the charming towns of Bergerac, Sainte Foy La Grande, and Marmande, and of course the leegant and sophisticated city of Bordeaux.
The gite has 3 large bedrooms (one ensuite) with plenty of storage. The salon is even larger, with a dining area and lounge seating for up to 8 people.
There is plenty of entertainment on offer from the TV (French and British channels), DVD player, wi-fi internet access, books and board games. There are also some toys for children to while away the early evenings.
Outside there is a boules court, lawns, and a pool area with lounge beds and table and chairs for alfresco dining. Adjoining the pool is a summer kitchen with gas hob, oven, and a fridge in which to cool those important refreshments. With all that the pool area has to offer it is not surprising that many groups have rarely left the villa grounds.
The owners are on hand, discreetly out of the way, to provide assistance and advice if needed. All in all,we have taken the risk out of holiday rentals, to ensure that you can get the best from your relaxing stay at Villa Platane.
