We spent an enjoyable day walking round the town and harbour. It was just over one hours drive from our rented house near Cannes
Saint Tropez is a small seaside town on the beach in the south of France. It has public and private beaches both nude and otherwise. It is an expensive place prices are higher here than further up the coast. We did however splash out on 2 coffee before we left.
The best time to go is April to early June
or September. The town gets very busy in the
peak months
During winter, the weather here can be
miserable St. Tropez faces north, and picks up the cold weather of the mistral.
The town is reached on a narrow coast road which gets blocked with traffic. It can be better to go further up the coast to St Raphael and travel by boat.
The boat leaves every couple of hours and the short journey takes about 50 mins. Try this local map of the area
In the town you will find a chapel that has been
converted to one of the best art galleries in the
country works to be found Matisse's
Corsican Landscape and Vuillard's Two Women by Lamplight.
Start your trip off by heading to the waterfront and taking in the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea. Spend some time strolling along the beach and admiring the stunning views. Then, explore the many boutiques and stores in the area before stopping for lunch. Try some of the local seafood specialties like bouillabaisse or grilled fish. After lunch, take a leisurely stroll through the town, admiring the architecture and taking in the sights. Stop by the local markets and pick up souvenirs before heading back to your hotel.
Day 2: Start your day off by taking a boat trip around the bay. You’ll get to see the stunning coastline and the many villas that dot the area. When you get back, take a tour of the historic centre, exploring the cobblestone streets and admiring the beautiful architecture. Stop by the local galleries and museums to get a better understanding of the area's rich cultural history. Finish your day by dining at one of the many restaurants in the area and savoring the amazing cuisine.
Day 3: Spend the day exploring the stunning countryside around St-Tropez. Take a walk through the vineyards, discovering the region's wine culture, or take a drive to the hilltop towns to admire the views. In the afternoon, head to the beach and relax on the sand. Go for a swim in the Mediterranean and cool off with a refreshing dip. Finish your day with a sunset stroll along the promenade and watch the boats sail into the harbor.
The Rue Sibilli is filled with trendy boutiques and unique items, try the place de Lices, where you can find produce and regional foods as well as clothes and collectables.
Visit the maritime museum, from the upper floors you'll have a great view of the entire peninsula, the gulf, and the Alps.
At night there is a wide choice of places to visit. If you want to eat you will find most of the restaurants in the town.It will also give you a guide to the cost of eating out
On Tuesdays and Saturday morning you can visit the local market. It is held at Place des Lices a small square in the town centre.
Chateau de Chambord is an enchanting destination nestled in the heart of the Loir et Cher region in France.
This architectural masterpiece, known for its distinctive French Renaissance architecture, is one of the most recognizable chateaus globally. Its iconic facade has fascinated tourists and history enthusiasts for centuries.
