Saint-Pol-de-Leon
Saint-Pol-de-Leon is a town in the Finistère department in the Brittany region of northwestern France. It is located in the Armorican Massif, near the coast of the English Channel. The town is known for its 11th-century church, Notre-Dame de Saint-Pol-de-Leon. It is about a 10 minute drive from where we were staying in the Port of Roscoff. We were wondering where to go for dinner it was just after 6pm.So we headed for the nearby town of Saint-Pol-de-Leon.The town shops were starting to close for the day. So we had no trouble parking in the centre next to the Cathedral.
We had a walk round the town centre before finding a restaurant for dinner.The town has a market on a Monday which is held near where we parked.In the squares Guebreant, Eveche and Parvis.

Saint-Pol-de-Leon dates back to the Iron Age, when the Celts inhabited the area. It was an important site during the Roman period, when it was known as Pollentia. The town was fortified in the 8th century by the Count of Cornouaille, and a castle was built there in the 10th century.
The town was also an important religious center, and a Benedictine Abbey and Church were built in the 11th century. The town was damaged by fire in 1589, and suffered extensive destruction as part of the Wars of Religion in the 16th century.
Places to Visit
The main attraction in Saint-Pol-de-Leon is the 11th-century Notre-Dame de Saint-Pol-de-Leon church, which is one of the oldest churches in Brittany. The church is noted for its Romanesque architecture and its impressive stained glass windows. Other attractions in the town include the old castle, the 16th-century town hall, and the 19th-century Saint-Pierre Chapel.
Nearby attractions include the Phare de Saint-Mathieu lighthouse, the beaches of Kernerville, and the medieval town of Morlaix. There is also a network of hiking and cycling trails that run through the area, providing stunning views of the coastline.
