Saint Hilaire du Harcouet
Saint Hilaire du Harcouet is a picturesque town located in the Manche region of Normandy, France. The town is situated along the banks of the Laize River, making it an ideal spot for exploring the area’s rich history and culture. It is about 30 mins drive from Mont Saint Michel.We had a couple of hours to pass before Alligator Bay opened at 2 pm. So decided to check out the town it is only 20 mins away

The town has a good choice of shops and cafes all within easy walking distance. We parked outside the old church in the centre. We visited on a Wednesday in October so it wasn`t over busy there was a few tourist about.The best day to visit is a Tuesday morning when the large street market is on it is one of the largest in the area. The market spreads out in the streets in centre of town.

The town's history dates back to the 12th century when it was a small village. It grew in the 17th century after the construction of several monuments, including the Church of Saint Hilaire du Harcouet, which was built in 1663. The town was also home to the Château de Saint-Hilaire du Harcouet, a castle which was destroyed by fire in 1796.
One of the highlights of visiting Saint Hilaire du Harcouet is the weekly street market. Every Tuesday morning, the town’s main street is filled with local farmers and craftsmen selling their wares. The market is a great place to find fresh produce, local cheeses, and handmade crafts.
In addition to the weekly market, there are several places of interest in and around the town. The Church of Saint Hilaire du Harcouet is a must-see, as is the nearby Château de Saint-Hilaire du Harcouet.
