The cottage and adjacent neighbour's house
Looking for a fully renovated, away-from-it-all (but not too isolated) 2 bedroomed cottage in a stunningly beautiful and unspoilt environment in the French Pyrénées This property could be for you. Family have described this place as 'good for the soul' and we cannot disagree.
Situated at 826m alt, in a tiny little 'hameau' of half a dozen properties (only our neighbour occupies her house permanently) 5 kms from the village of Massat, the house has 90m2 of living space and is attached on one side to our neighbour's (a quiet and considerate 50+ yr old lady) property.
The ground floor has a porch area for outdoor gear and French doors leading into the living area which has a 1 yr old 12kw woodburning stove on which we cook most of our meals in winter months! There is plenty of space for a dining table and chairs. The centre piece of the ground floor is the bespoke handmade kitchen and tiled floor.
Up the stairs to the first floor and the bathroom which has a spacious shower cubicle, walk-in airing cupboard with loads of shelves, a washbasin set into a handmade wooden unit and a WC. The light and airy main bedroom/study with original floorboards and beautiful original beams is also on this floor with double windows to the front with views onto the woodland opposite and French doors to the back leading onto the 20m2 decked and balustraded summer terrasse area with great views.....the perfect spot for relaxing on a summer evening!
Up the stairs to the 'grenier' which is a beautiful bedroom with more big old beams, seagrass flooring and a velux window with views towards Mont Valier and the high mountains bordering Spain
The adjacent but not attached barn is expected to have a positive 'Certificat d'Urbanisme' decision which means authorisation in principle has been agreed to transform it into a dwelling. We currently use it as a work shop and bike/outdoor equipment storage area.
There is the possibility of buying land from our neighbour if required
