Quiberon is a town that offers a wide range of outdoor activities for tourists to enjoy. Whether you prefer land, sea or air activities, Quiberon has something for everyone. If you're looking for land activities, hiking is a great option. The rugged coastline offers stunning views and a great opportunity to explore the local flora and fauna.
The Sentier des douaniers (Customs officers' path) is a popular trail that offers breathtaking views of the sea and the coastline. Cycling is also a popular activity, with many companies offering bike rentals and tours. For sea activities, you can take advantage of the pristine beaches that Quiberon has to offer. Swimming, surfing, and kiteboarding are all popular options.
You can also take a boat tour to explore the nearby islands of Belle-Ile, Houat, and Hoëdic. If you prefer to stay on dry land, you can still enjoy the sea by taking a coastal walk or simply relaxing on the beach. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try paragliding or skydiving for a bird's-eye view of the town and the surrounding area. There are also several golf courses in the area for those who enjoy a round or two.
If you have some extra time and want to explore the surrounding area, there are some great day trips you can take. One popular destination is the town of Carnac which is just a short drive away. Carnac is famous for its alignments, which are rows of standing stones that date back thousands of years. The site is truly impressive and worth a visit for anyone interested in history or archaeology.
Another great day trip from Quiberon is to the nearby island of Belle-Île-en-Mer. This picturesque island is home to some of the most stunning beaches in the region, as well as charming villages and historic sites. You can take a ferry from Quiberon to Belle-Île-en-Mer and spend the day exploring the island before returning to Quiberon in the evening.
For those who enjoy hiking, a day trip to the nearby Parc naturel régional d'Armorique is a must. This stunning natural park is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes in Brittany, including rugged coastlines, rolling hills, and verdant forests. There are many hiking trails to choose from, ranging from easy walks to more challenging hikes that take you to some of the park's most scenic spots. Overall, Quiberon has a wide range of outdoor activities for tourists to enjoy, making it the perfect destination for those who love to explore nature and enjoy the great outdoors.
Quiberon is a busy seaside resort on a sandy bay. There is a harbour and a small fishing fleet they mainly catch sardines. Our trip to the town was our longest journey from our base near Concarneau. It was abut 80 miles each way but included a side trip to the village of Carnac It was well worth the drive along the coast to get here.
There is a long sweeping sandy bay with a nice promenade with hotels over looking the sea. The town centre has several nice shopping streets we managed to park the car in one. Then we had a walk round the town and finished up in the cafe in the last photo. We had a nice meal watching the tide coming in. Then it was in the car and back to our Gite
