Port de Belon
Port de Belonis nestled in the south of Brittany in Finistère. It is a charming fishing village surrounded by a stunning coastline of cliffs and sandy beaches. The Port is about 10 miles from the old town of Quimperle and a simular distance to the town of Clohars-Carneot
Sign to Port de Belon
Port de Belon is a small village built at the bottom of a wooded hillside. Next to the river Belon on the Finistere coast in Brittany.The area is famous for the Belon oysters which are regarded as the best you can buy.We visited Port de Belon in late September so we had the place to ourselves.
We parked right on the edge of the river near the slipway for a picnic lunch.Just sitting there watching the yachts moored in the river and eating fresh French bread and cheese with coffee it is the prefect picnic spot.

The village has a rich history which dates back to the Middle Ages. In the 11th and 12th centuries, it was an important port for the surrounding area, and in the 16th century it was even the main port of call for the Spanish Armada.
Today, visitors to Port de Belon can explore the village’s rich history and culture. The Church of Saint-Paul-de-Belon is a beautiful place to visit and is home to a stunning collection of religious art. There are also a number of historical monuments in the village, such as the 16th-century watchtower and the ruins of a castle.
The surrounding area of Port de Belon is also full of interesting places to explore. The nearby island of Ouessant is a nature reserve and is home to a variety of rare species of birds. The island of Molène is also a great place to visit and is known for its stunning landscapes and beautiful beaches.
For those looking to explore further afield, the nearby towns of Brest and Quimper are well worth visiting. Brest is home to an impressive selection of museums and galleries, while Quimper is known for its picturesque cobbled streets and its famous Cathedral.
With its stunning coastline, rich history, and beautiful surrounding countryside, Port de Belon is sure to make for an unforgettable holiday destination.
