We drove though the village of Pierrefitte en Auge several times on our trips round Calvados. The village is on the side of a hill we found a small car park and had a walk round to take the photos.

The village is believed to have been founded in the 10th century by monks from the Abbey of Saint-Evroul, and was a significant trading centre in the Middle Ages. The main square, Place de la Halle, still retains its original cobblestones and is home to the old town hall, which was built in 1532.

The Church of Saint-Martin in the centre of the village dates back to the 12th century and is renowned for its impressive Romanesque architecture. Inside, visitors can admire the beautiful stained glass windows and the intricately carved stone sculptures.

The picturesque Château de Pierrefitte is located just outside the village and was built in the 16th century. The château houses a museum that offers a fascinating insight into the history of the region, with displays of traditional costumes, furniture and other artefacts from the area.

The village is renowned for its delicious cider, which is produced in the local orchards. The cider can be sampled in the village traditional cider bar, and visitors can also try local specialities such as boudin noir (black pudding) and teurgoule (a sweet, creamy rice pudding).

Just a short drive from Pierrefitte en Auge is the beautiful town of Honfleur, which is known for its picturesque harbour and cobbled streets. The town is home to a number of interesting sights, including the Maison Satie, the birthplace of the famous composer Erik Satie. The nearby town of Deauville is also worth a visit, with its luxury hotels, chic boutiques, and horse racing track.
