Penmarch
Penmarch is a commune in the Finistère department of Brittany in northwestern France. The town is situated at the tip of the Crozon Peninsula and is known for its long stretches of white sand beaches. Its long history dates back to the 11th century, when it was part of the ancient Duchy of Cornouaille. The riverside town of Pont l-Abbe is just 7 miles away and worth a visit
Penmarch centre
We had been on a circular drive from Pont l-Abbe to Loctudy and then down the D53 to Penmarch.We saw a sign to the Point and the Phared'Eckmühl a large lighthouse.The light can be seen from 6o miles out to sea.There is a large parking area overlooking the old sea wall where you sit and watch the sea.
The town is also known for its lighthouse, the Phare des Baleines, which was built in the early 19th century. It is one of the most famous lighthouses in Brittany, and it provides a beacon for sailors at night.
Some of the places to visit nearby include
The Crozon Peninsula, the Île de Sein, and the nearby beach resort town of Saint-Guénolé. In the town itself, visitors can explore the old fishing port, the historic church, and the nearby beaches. The nearby Pointe de Penmarc'h is also a popular spot for bird watching. Other nearby attractions include the Plouguerneau lighthouse, the Pointe de Penmarc'h nature reserve, and the Pointe du Raz.
