Morlaix
Morlaix is a beautiful town in Brittany, France. Located on the estuary of the River Elorn, it was an important Breton port in the 19th century and is now a popular tourist destination. It is about half an hours drive from the Port of Roscoff where we were staying
We visited the old town in July on what turned out to be another wet day.So it did limit our visit to taking a few pictures and running back to the car. What we saw of the town we liked we will come back later in the year hopefully on a better day.
The town centre was very busy we drove the full length of the town to the viaduct and then back on the other side.There was plenty of place to park the car in the centre.It was just to wet to get out the town has lots of timber framed houses.The type that are bigger at the top than the bottom and some interesting cobbled side street.We would have loved to explore so we will have to add it to the list of places to revisit.

Morlaix was first recorded in 990, when it was a small fishing village. After the 13th century, it grew in importance as a seaport in the heart of Brittany. During the 16th century, it was fortified against the English, and in the 19th century it became a major port for trading with the Americas.
Places to Visit:
The old Town of Morlaix is filled with charming cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture. The Place de la Liberation is a great place to start exploring, with its grand 17th-century stone buildings. The nearby St-Jean-de-Morlaix Church is an impressive example of Gothic architecture, and you can also visit the Chateau de Taureau, a 16th-century fortress located on an island in the estuary.
Nearby attractions include the Pointe de Primel, a rocky headland with breathtaking views of the sea, and the Pointe Saint-Mathieu, which is home to a beautiful lighthouse and abbey. The nearby town of Carantec is also worth a visit, with its charming harbor and beaches.
There are also plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in Morlaix. The Parc Naturel Regional d'Armorique is a great place for hiking, cycling, and bird watching, and the nearby Golf de Morlaix is a popular spot for golfers.
No visit to Morlaix would be complete without a trip to the nearby town of Roscoff. Located just 20 minutes away, Roscoff is famous for its seafood, and is home to some of the best seafood restaurants in the region. Don't forget to take a boat trip to the nearby Ile de Batz, where you can explore its beautiful gardens and beaches.
