One of the most attractive sites for tourists is the Citadel of Montreuil sur Mer which dates back to the 12th century. The citadel offers a great view of the town and the countryside, and visitors can explore the old ramparts and learn about the town's history. The Citadel is open to the public you can walk round yourself or take a guided tour.
Montreuil sur Mer Citadel If you are in the area it is well worth visiting. You can park right outside just turn off the main street opposite the Hotel de France.
The photo shows the entrance go through to the small
gift shop. The price to go round the site including the ramparts was 10 euros which is excellent value.The view from the ramparts is worth the
entrance fee alone. You can see the lighthouse at Le Touquet, the forest of Hesdin
and the old Carthusian monastery.

When you see the height of the walls it is hard to imaging anyone getting over.
If you did you the had a ditch and another 25 foot wall.

The town of Montreuil sur Mer also offers a variety of activities for tourists. The beaches of Berck-sur-Mer are just a few kilometres away and offer a great day out with plenty of activities such as swimming, sailing, or simply enjoying the sun.
Montreuil-sur-Mer also has a lively market square which is also home to many local shops and restaurants.
The town also has several museums, including the Museum of the Great War, which showcases the history of World War I in Montreuil-sur-Mer. There is also the Montreuil-sur-Mer History Museum, which explores the town's past and its development over the centuries.
The town is also known for its festivals, including a music festival that takes place every year in July and the Montreuil-sur-Mer Arts Festival in August. Both festivals offer a variety of entertainment, from live music and theatre to dance performances and art displays. No matter what activities you choose, a visit to Montreuil sur Mer is sure to be a memorable experience
