Martinvast a village with a Chateau in Normandy
Martinvast is a village just 4 miles from the Port of Cherbourg. To get to the village from Cherbourg you take the D900 then the D650 and finely the D122E2.We visited the village because we saw a sign to the Chateau de Marinvast you can stay at the Chateau for details.
When we visited the village the road was closed for a large car boot so we parked in a field next to the Chateau.It was only a short walk to the village of Marinvast.The village is an interesting mix of old and very new property.I have never seen so many people in a small French village just to visit a yard sale.As always we finished up buying several items.
Places to visit there are several villages nearby Gouberville and Cosqueville and Neville sur Mer
The fishing port of Barfleur is a must visit while you are only a few mile away. We also liked the village and lighthouse at Gattenville Phare
The nearby beaches of La Hague and the port of Barfleur are popular tourist attractions in Martinvast. The beaches are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the views of the English Channel. The port of Barfleur is a great stop for those looking to explore the region's seafood restaurants, shops, and markets.
The nearby town of Valognes is just a short drive away, and it is home to many historical and cultural sites. Valognes is an excellent place to explore the region's medieval history and architecture. There are also several museums and galleries located throughout the town, such as the Musée de la Marine and the Réserve Naturelle de Valognes.
