The village of Giverny France
Places to visit in Giverny the village is in the Normandy region of France.It is about a 1 hour 20 mins drive from Paris around 50 miles so ideal for a day trip. The village is right on the banks of the river Seine where it meets the River Epte.
Giverny a small village with 2 main streets which are joined by narrow lanes.
One of the roads is named after the painter Claude Monet who lived in the village.
He is buried in the family vault near the village church.

The area has always been popular with artists it is well worth visiting the Musée d'Art Américain on 99 rue Claude Monet 27620 in Giverny.
Monet`s garden
If you want to see paintings by Monet you need to visit the near by town of Vernon.
There is a Monet museum in the town. Most people visit Giverny to see Monet's house and gardens which have been restored.The gardens are on rue Claude Monet 27620 entrance was free when we visited
They are a very busy with tourist in the summer when the garden are in full bloom.They open at 9 30 am close at 6pm you are best visiting as soon as they open.The coach trips start arriving from 10 30 am.we visited at 4 30 pm it was quieter then and you still have 1 hour 30 mins to look round. The nearby town of Vernon has plenty of shops, cafes, etc and good local produce market on Wednesday mornings.
To see the area fully you need to stay for a few days.
Monet`s house
The village of Giverny in Normandy is a popular destination for art lovers and tourists who want to discover the place where Claude Monet, the master of impressionism, lived and painted for over 40 years. He created a beautiful garden with water lilies, a Japanese bridge, and colourful flowers that inspired some of his most famous works, such as the Water Lilies series.
The village also attracted other American impressionist artists who came to visit Monet and admire the scenery, such as Theodore Earl Butler and Frederick Carl Frieseke. Today, visitors can explore Monet's house and garden, which have been restored by the Foundation Claude Monet, a nonprofit organisation that preserves his legacy. They can also visit the Museum of Impressionism Giverny, which showcases the history of impressionism and the Giverny art colony, and the Hotel Baudy, which was once the centre of artistic life in Giverny, where Monet and his friends used to dine and paint.
