The city of Bordeaux France
The port of Bordeaux is a city in the Aquitaine region of France.
The city is in two parts divided by the Garonne river.
There are 4 road bridges across the river.
The one in the photo is the oldest built in 1820 the Pont-de-Pierre.

The centre of the city still has its old terrace houses and mansions.
The centre is mainly a traffic free zone and has every kind of shop.
If you want top of the range designer goods go to Gambetta square.
There are plenty of cafes wine bars and some of the best patisseries in France.You can eat out from around £8 upwards a few of the restaurants in the Port with a price guide.A local Map of the city to help you find your way around.

The port of Bordeaux
The city and the surrounding area is most famous for its wine growing.
The region is one of the largest wine-growing area in the world.
There are several tours you can go on to visit the vineyards and taste the wine.
A few miles to the east of the city you will find St Emilion an interesting old town. There is a link at the bottom of the page with more details.
About 40 miles away you can visit the highest sand dune in Europe. The view from the top of the sea and the pine forests is worth the climb.
