Amiens is a city in the Somme region of France. It is a very busy city but well worth a visit. We found no problem parking on the street in the town centre.
The centre is a mixture of old wooden buildings in the Saint-Leu area. Next to modern traffic free shopping streets with fountains and restaurants. A guide to eating out in the city and a local map of the area. The city makes an ideal place to stay, visit the WWl battlefields.There are organised tours or you can go in your car we started at Vimy Ridge

If you are in the area at Christmas time. Amiens has one of the largest markets in France. There is more than 500 stalls offering all types of Christmas fare. The market is on the Rue des Trois Cailloux

Most people come to the city to visit the largest cathedral in France Cathedrale de Notre Dame. A gigantic Gothic structure, which is on the UNESCO heritage list. The building is big enough to hold two churches the size of Notre-Dame in Paris.
The floating gardens and the Picardy museum are worth a visit. Also visit the house where Jules Verne wrote much of his most loved works, Admission Charge Open:Tue-Sun
