Ambleteuse is a small seaside village on the Cote d Opale.
It is just off the A16 motorway exit 36 between Calais and Boulogne.
You can park close to the pebbled beach and watch the cross channel ferries. Visitors can also explore the La Manche Regional Natural Park, a stunning area of dunes, marshes, and woods,

Ambleteuse Fort Vauban
The first thing you see on the beach is the old fort Which was built to guard the harbour in 1860s now silted up. Napoleon assembled a large part of his British invasion fleet here.
Fort Vauban was also used by the Germans in WW1 You can visit the fort but you have to book in advance.
The village as not been over developed. Ambleteuse is also known for its quaint cobbled streets and traditional French cafes, as well as its excellent seafood restaurants.The village makes for an ideal day trip, or a longer stay for those wishing to get away from it all. Whether you are looking for a relaxing break or a more active holiday,
It also as an excellent Second World War Museum Musee 39 - 45 with thousand of original items.
