Aire sur la Lys is a market town in the Pas-de-Calais region of Northern France. It is 10 miles from Saint Omer and about 30 miles from Calais
We arrived at Aire sur la Lys fairly early in the morning hence the lack of people. We were on our way to Saint Omer from the town of Marquise we were staying nearby. Although we spend a lot of time in this area this was our first visit. We parked in the main square the Grand Place in front of the Town Hall.
Apart from the Town Hall the first building you see is Le Bailliage which is know the tourist office. It was built in 1600 and used as a courthouse. Next time we will visit later in the day when it is open.
Early morning visit to the town unfortunately the chip stall was closed
